Thanks for coming to our Sponsor page! We are actively seeking corporate partners to support NATC 2017. There are many reasons to join in!
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The 10th North American Taiko Conference (NATC) will be held August 10-13, 2017 at the University of California, San Diego. The event brings together approximately 600 participants for workshops, discussion sessions, and performances of taiko, or Japanese drumming.
NATC is the largest gathering of taiko practitioners in North America, and has been since its inception in 1997.
The 2017 conference will offer 50 workshop sessions on multiple tracks for a wide range of skill levels and interest, taught by taiko masters from Japan and North America. The conference also features a leadership forum, discussion sessions, a Taiko Marketplace for vendors, and two public performances, all of which offer significant recognition opportunities for Sponsors. “Taiko Ten,” a free, outdoor performance featuring community groups, draws an audience of 800-1800. “Taiko Jam,” a ticketed concert featuring world-class performing ensembles draws an average audience of 650. The audiences for both of these events are a mix of Conference attendees and residents of the local community.
A VIBRANT NETWORK
There are nearly 700 taiko groups in North America and the artform is constantly growing. Groups range in size from 2-person ensembles to schools of 100+ students. Taiko is enjoyed by practitioners of all ages, walks of life and ethnicities. Since 1997, the North American Taiko Conference has grown to become an important touch-point for the taiko community to network, develop skills, and reflect.
A PASSIONATE AUDIENCE
Taiko is an all-consuming pastime. Players devote hours not only to performance and practice, but also to building drums, sewing costumes and repairing equipment. The NATC brings together over 600 of these enthusiasts in one place, creating an energetic atmosphere. Your brand can be a part of this environment.
A DYNAMIC ARTFORM
Taiko came to America in the late 1960’s. Early pioneers were active in the Asian American civil rights movement of the 60’s and 70’s. The North American “taiko community” can trace its roots directly to this conference. Many new ideas and relationships are born when taiko groups get together. Your support of this conference will help the taiko community continue to grow for many years to come.
